TITLE: THE TIMELESS LIBRARIAN : RANGANATHAN’S VISION IN TODAY’S ERA

ABSTRACT: This research paper examines the enduring relevance of S.R. Ranganathan’s Five Laws of Library Science in the context of modern library practices and the evolving role of librarians in the digital era. Despite the rapid advancement of technology and the shift towards digital resources, Ranganathan’s principles—books are for use, every reader their book, every book its reader, save the time of the reader, and the library is a growing organism—continue to guide the development of library services and the librarian’s role as an information facilitator. This study explores how Ranganathan’s vision can be applied to contemporary challenges such as information overload, digital literacy, and user-centered service design. Through qualitative analysis and case studies, the paper highlights innovative practices in libraries that embody Ranganathan’s ideals, demonstrating their applicability in fostering community engagement, promoting lifelong learning, and ensuring equitable access to information. Ultimately, this research advocates for the integration of Ranganathan’s timeless principles into current library frameworks, positioning librarians as pivotal agents in navigating the complexities of the information age.
