TITLE: WORK CONDITION AND ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT BY LIBRARIANS IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES
ABSTRACT: In this study, the researcher investigated Relationship between Work Condition and Organizational Commitment by Librarians in Academic Libraries. The study ascertained the relationship between training, promotion, disciplinary measure, and organizational commitment. Three hypotheses guided the study in line with the purpose of the study. The design of the study was correlational. The population of the study is one hundred and twenty one (121) and is comprised of the librarians and library officers of the twelve tertiary education institutions in Anambra State. The entire population was used for the study thus census method of sampling technique was adopted. Reliability coefficients of 0.76 and 0.88 were attained for working condition and organizational commitment respectively, using Cronbach alpha reliability statistics-method. The t-test was used to text hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings from the study showed that there is a high positive and significant relationship between training, promotion, disciplinary measure and organizational commitment. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that the authorities of the academic libraries in Anambra State should ensure strict and unbiased implementation of the various working conditions in their academic libraries to ensure steady growth and development of the libraries.
