TITLE:ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT TO LIBRARIANS IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES

ABSTRACT: In this study, the researcher investigated organizational commitment to librarians in academic libraries. The study ascertained the relationship between job security and organizational commitment of staff of academic libraries in Anambra State, Nigeria; Relationship between appraisal and organizational commitment of staff of academic libraries in Anambra State, Nigeria and Relationship between disciplinary measure and organizational commitment of staff of academic libraries in Anambra State.  Three purposes guided the study. The design of the study was correlational. The population of the study is one hundred and twenty one (121) and is comprised of the librarians and library officers of the twelve tertiary education institutions in Anambra State. The entire population was used for the study thus census method of sampling technique was adopted. Reliability coefficients of 0.76 and 0.88 were attained for working condition and organizational commitment respectively, using Cronbach alpha reliability statistics-method. The t-test was used to text hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings from the study showed that  high positive and significant relationship between job security and organizational commitment of staff of academic libraries in Anambra State; high positive and significant relationship between appraisal and organizational commitment of staff of academic libraries in Anambra State and there is a high positive and significant relationship between disciplinary measure and organizational commitment of staff of academic libraries in Anambra State.
